Paleo Diet Discussed on Nightline

I thought this video was pretty good at explaining the Paleo diet in a very generic sense. It didn't go into specifics as much as some would probably like but in the time allowed, I think it could really help people get interested in it.

  1. I really do wish they had gone into some of the reasons people would choose a Paleo lifestyle. In my opinion, it came off as "here are some loons eating nothing but meat" and "look at this crazy guy pulling his Land Rover around". The fitness bit was actually ok. I just would have liked to have seen some discussion of the carbohydrate issue and insulin. It was a bit fluffy for me, but I was glad to see it make the news nonetheless. Thanks for spreading the word Tyson and congrats on the new addition!

  2. I think they would have lost a majority of American had they started talking about insulin levels and carbs. What they should have done is shown a guy that weighed 300lbs with diabetes and then showed the same guy at his idea weight with no diabetes. That would have gotten peoples attention!

The one part I really hated in the whole thing was when they showed the guy pouring a shot of alcohol. That to me made it look like they were making fun.

Thanks for the congrats! I am already preparing him for my eating habits! :)

  3. Complications like high blood pressure, kidney failure and heart
diseases are very common for the type 1 diabetic patient. These people
have to concentrate on eating foods that are low in sodium, fats and
cholesterol. Their meal plan will include foods that are rich in high
fiber like the leafy vegetables. This will stabilize the glucose level
and decrease the blood pressure in the body. For the type 2 diabetic
patients the first thing is to control the body weight.
